This Commemorative Senchakai is held in celebration of the 250th Anniversary of American Independence.
It marks a special occasion to share the culture of Senchado (the art of Sencha), which flourished in Japan during the late eighteenth century, around the same time as American independence.
Guests are invited to experience tea preparation and seasonal refreshment in a setting inspired by the traditions of Senchado.

During the Senchakai, guests will observe a demonstration of Senchado and encounter aspects of its cultural background as it developed in the eighteenth century.
Guests are invited to experience the enjoyment of Sencha prepared in the traditional teapot style, to appreciate the beauty of Gyokuro leaves, and to encounter the spirit of Senchado as it was cherished by literati approximately 250 years ago.

Location
The Senchakai will be held at Eri's Senchado School in Tiverton, Rhode Island.
It is located near the Tiverton Public Library.
The address will be shared after registration is completed.
Guests are welcome to attend whether or not they have previous experience with Senchado.
Attire and Arrival Notes
This Senchakai will be held in a chair-and-table setting.
Guests are kindly encouraged to wear smart casual attire suitable for a traditional Japanese tea gathering.
As shoes are removed upon entering the space, guests wearing sandals are kindly asked to bring socks.
To help maintain the atmosphere of the gathering, we ask that guests avoid overly casual clothing such as beachwear or athletic wear.
